I’ve decided to go vegan for January 2012. Mostly for health reasons, though partially to know what it feels like to not eat meat – those who know me well know that I am a carnivore at heart. It’s kinda a fun challenge, and to not be the guy who goes to a restaurant and asks if everything on the menu is vegan, I’ve started to cook a lot more at home. Here are my first two forays into improv recipes.
Green Lentil Stew
with penne, carrots, celery + spices!
Teriyaki Tofu
with pan-seared asparagus, sauteed mushrooms, and homemade baked beans

No updates in quite some time, I know, but I’ve been very busy working on a cool new project (details to come soon, probably). I’ve been learning a lot of new things so I thought I’d start posting them up here. Here’s one useful thing I found today.
Often, it’s helpful to integrate user authentication for third-party services into your web apps. Doing so enables your applications to take advantage of some functionality that those services offer and it decreases the burden of user registration.
Google and Yahoo make this possible through various APIs, but it’s fairly complex to do so. I found a fantastic library at a32.me that makes this quick and easy, so I thought I would share it. There is a demo and download link located there, but I thought this was so cool that I’ve uploaded it to my server here in case the link dies (as they sometimes do). Demo can be found here.
